If the anticipated weather event fails to materialize, it is of no consequence because the impact of a change in weather has been minimized. Primitive campers may choose to up the ante in their quest for survivalist type accommodations. By building their own lean-to or other lodging, rough campers resurrect the spirit of their forefathers. By starting the campfire with a friction method employed by scouts, a modern day camper tips his hat to the frontiersmen who did not have a butane lighter in their pocket.
